It didnt make much sense to have a roll cage in the car, no heater, no ac, shitty wiring, iffy brake lines, etc.. so I decided to start fresh.

whats next mang?

i bought front and rear integra seats but contrary to popular belief the rears dont fit into a coupe. :shifty:

next: teg front seats, extended wheel studs, wheel spacers, teg rear sway bar, new brake pads/rotors. debating on doing rear discs but idk..drums are better for drag racing or so ive heard.

it needs new carpet and new paint. i think paint will wait until i build the motor. i still need a few things before i start building it though...so looks like auto X it is this season. lol

Don't you need 4dr integra seats for the rear?

zex_cool
04-29-2009, 12:02 PM
i got them out of the four door. the bottom piece is ~1-1.5" longer on each side while the top piece is sorter but only slightly, im sure it would work. i also tried the bottom half out of a two door and its about an inch shorter on each side and it bolts up differently.

Hey, did any of the 92-95 civic hatchbacks come with a rear sway? My project VX doesn't have one, and it feels absolutely horrible around any corner whatsoever... Do you have to drill your own holes to mount it to the subframe, and did you have to use integra LCA's?

spastik
05-12-2009, 09:43 AM
^^ you should be able to mount it with any 88-00 honda LCA with sway brackets. the size of the LCAs vary though

my crx didnt have bolts where the sway mounts to the body, but it did have the holes... so i cut above it and dropped in bolts

Nice. The rear sway will do more for handling than any other mod except R comps. Youll enjoy it throughly. Your next step would be a ITR or a Progress 22-23mm rear swaybar.

As for rotors, go with somehting slotted. Crossdrilled rotors tend to crack when actually used for competition. I really liked my powerslot rotors when I first got them, especially with the HPS pads.

dmotoguy
05-12-2009, 10:03 AM
why slotted instead of blank?

shenrie
05-12-2009, 10:26 AM
From what I had gathered they created slotted and crossdrilled rotors to help the gases that build up from braking escape. Like I mentioned, unless the crossdrilled rotors are cast with holes (I think Porsche is the only ones to cast drilled rotors) they have a high tendacy of cracking on the outter row when used for competition (wont ever have issues on a daily driver), then come apart during high speeds and can really cause damage to many different things (have only heard, no first hand experience).

I was also told that some slotted rotors have a special cut in them to kind of "resurface" the brake pads during every rotation. If you look at some slotted rotors vs others, you can see how they are cut (and feel) and you can totally tell which ones will "cut" and which ones wont. People that think that this will deplete the pads faster, it doesnt take much life off the pads at all.

Dont get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with blanks, especially the price, but some of the better slotted rotors are priced similar to the blanks and will normally outperform in competition settings. Again, for the daily, it makes absolutly no difference at all.

Another thing I read about when it comes to brakes is that cryo treating (freezeing) helps in rotor life and performance considerably, but again, no first hand experience. Ive always been too poor to enjoy better technology.

zex_cool

resize your pic bri!

im using itr/88crx LCA so it had the threaded hole for the sway bar. the sub frame on the other hand just had the holes but no threads.

what i did was remove the LCA and use a nut and bolt to mount it. piece of cake!

as far as rotors, i think ill just go with some autozone duralast blanks for the time being.
