This wonderful new toy showed up at the front door today. An early birthday present to myself. I don't think there will be any issue with using this during autocross since the one guy had the lipstick camera mounted to his car with a few lick and stick suction cups and the gopro mount that I saw in pictures didn't look any beefer. This thing is supposed to be able to handle 40bls without any problems. Will have to of course test it out this weekend but I think I'm going to have to pick up a lens cover for it first just to be safe. Looks like I can also order a wide angle lens for it but I've only gotten mixxed reviews on the lens quality so I'm not entirely sure if I'll do that just yet.

Why not test it w/ something heavier like a brick or something heavier, then at least if the suction doesn't come off, you know it'll handle your camera. If it does come off, then nothing broke that costs you a lot of money to replace.

Attaching said brick would be a pain, I think...

I'm not so worried about it falling off the car unless someone hits it. I'm more worried about the video keeping focus, how the sound is going to work and if the camera shakes around all of which would make the videos look like crap. That's what I'm interested in testing.

And yeah attaching a brick would be a major pain but it sure would look funny.

nice setup. I just got a GoPro Hero wide angle with a suction cup mount, helmet mounts, and a few other random mounts, one of which will be in my front bumper/grill area. I'll have it out at the next event and will hopefully be bringing video of the rest of the season/freezeout hillclimb/wendover prosolo to this sub-forum.

noice...Scottystyles also has a GoPro with a couple of mounts but hasn't used it yet. We should pester him to get on that.

Just an idea....figured it'd be easier to ducttape a brick to your mount for a quick test han replace the camera when it and the mount comes off. Who cares how it looks...it'd be temporary for just the test. Hopefully the pic doesn't come out bouncy, like you said.

I have a mount for my camera as well and also have DJ fabricating a roll bar mount for my Oregon Scientific bullet cam so I should have two cameras running for the next event. Get some nice split screen action.

YouTube - Test of the new camera car mount (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjqk3g71G8E)

Here's a video that we shot last night. Wind is a huge but I think fixable problem.

Nice! It'll be great to see those videos throughout the season.

That was the only "clean" run I had all day, and even then you can see problems (sliding sideways off the start, taking too long on the 3rd-4th shift...). It was the only time I didn't screw up and completely miss 4th, though - that's what the comment was about, and it's the first time I went full-track with something besides an 18 second car. 14.997 @ 99.44mph.

The camera & mount works GREAT though. Easy to set up, stable as hell, and the only time it shakes is when the entire car is shaking.

Forgive me if it was already mentioned but where did you get this? I want to invest in one of these.
