Hey guys, I'm a new member from Georgia. a Friend of mine from the Isuzone directed me here and I must say that I really like this forum.
Anyways, I've got an 88' Isuzu Imark with a 400+hp build on the way. Right now there are a set of 205/40/17 tires sitting on a set of ICW "Fang" rims tucked under my fenders. I've been looking at my different rim and tire options and so far it seems like my only options are either Weld or Lenso rims. Due to the [already] very limited wheel space, I'm going to have to run a 13 inch drag slick. Another friend of mine told me that even with the 13'' slicks he still had trouble getting his wheels to full lock without scrubbing. It might be possible to run 14'' rims, but the slick would have to be very, and I mean very narrow.
My father recommended that I order a set of those mini-stock circle track rims out of one of the various Speedway-type magazines. Though they would undoubtedly weigh more than the Lenso's or Weld's, they only cost $55 a piece compared to the $100+ per rim for the Lenso's.
Any opinions?

this is for drag racing? if so, why are you concerned with scrubbing at full lock? i think if anything you should be concerned with your fenders sitting on the slick if your lowered. you will need coilovers to raise your car up depending on the slick size....but yes, lenso's or welds are your best options. the circle track wheels weigh entirely too much and you will destroy axles/transmissions trying to spin that much weight, with that much grip from the slicks.
you need something light weight. get the lenso's. i used them and swear by them.

On a car like isuzu I would not go anything more then a 15" wheel... Just like Turbo2Cam Says you will have to have your car raised to run some decent tires... I run 15 as my track tires on my BMW so I can fit more tire and more meat under the fender for better grip...
I say ditch the 17" and look at something smaller (smaller usually means lighter) but if that is your only option then Turbo2Cam got your answer covered :)

and just to let you know, a guy dyno'd 320, ran a 11.5 peeling out like crazy. so 400 is just ridiculous. he couldnt get traction, and im pretty sure he had custom cv axles also. what engine to you plan to run. im sticking with the 4XC1 whichi know you have but are you going to do the DOHC swap, if you ever need help, ask me or devin.

^^^ never take wheel advice from him...
Because he will just make you lose your tractions and say get some 19's and no suspension mods because that is the isuzu way :)

^^ thats the only way to do it. your not going to fit it under the fenders like insepsis is saying. this is a fwd car, not rwd. and since your only using them at the track, who cares about your turning radius? i couldnt run my wheels and tires at full lock without it rubbing...but the only time i was turning was to go to the staging lanes, and turning onto the return road.
get lenso's and some decent sized slicks, for that power, 23's are minimum and 24.5's would be best (assuming your gearing will allow for those sizes)
omg its drunk scott.

He's from payette, you can't expect him to know what a scene kid is and expecting him to not make obscure judgments is asking far to much of him

Those are Mike's rims and he was running an 11.3 with 411whp. I know you're a bit too new into the Isuzu scene to remember, but Steve Lockett was turning 10.3's back in the mid 1990's with a set of Lenso rims and tires. Then again, he was using the three-speed 76mm transmission, so he wasn't at as much risk of snapping a CV axle as all of us other guys.
Thanks for all of the input guys.
E2, I'm TI over on the Isuzone forums.

"Last time out to the track, I had just put on the new turbo and had the boost set at 22 psi. On the dyno it made 325 hp. It ran 11.5@125 mph."

That had to be after he swapped his 4xE1 into Greenie. I could swear he did a 411whp run back on the old Kuriger.net page when his engine was still in the Imark.
Also, good to see you man. Great to see you on another board. Most Isuzone members never leave the nest.
