N/A v. Forced Induction

We all know that forced induction makes more power than normally aspirated motors. But I think that a built normally aspirated motor sounds better than a built FI motor. What do you think?

Boost FTW hands down! Yes I wouldnt mind an all motor k26 civic hatch but boost just feels soooo damn good :D

i think it really depends specifically on the engine. for ex, i'd rather have an n/a s2000 that revs to the moon than a boosted one that constantly needs pampering. Or an M/// motor that revs to the moon ... even tho the HP freaks boosted e46's are insane, there's something about the power-band, sound and feeling of an N/A powerplant that a boosted engine lacks. A type R integra with a straight pipe, headers, cams, and a huge intake is probably more than enough to blow your ear drums... and its AwEsomE. Keeping it floored all the time, having instant throttle response, and being able to do cool stuff like itb's with crazy Vstacks is something i think makes n/a cool all by itself. ALTHOUGH, who wouldnt want to have something like an FD rx7 with a monster turbo that spools at 3k and makes 500hp in an engine that is roughly half the size of most 4 bangers on the road. Boost makes it fun to do stuff like hill climbs were the n/a shows its weak side...gravity. Plus you have cool ricer stuff like BOV's and open wastegates, shooting flames when you shift and making enough power to stomp any car that wants to red light to red light. BEE-R ingnition cuts on boosted cars too, who doesnt love the POP POP POP PPBOOOM that they make.
i'd have to say im 50/50 on the boost vs n/a thing. i love them both!

well since ive owned various variations of N/A motors and high boost, boosted motors....i would say, in a heart beat....boost is better.

if you think a properly built n/a motor sounds mean.....take that same motor and boost it.

n/a motors sound good in high rpm's...but in low rpms they they are quite mundain. a turbo motor on the other hand ALLWAYS has the sound of a spooling turbo, and in the high r's its the sound of a pissed off n/a motor, with the outrageous squeel of a turbo on top of it. NOTHING i have ridden in sounded better than my 500whp, open downpipe, boosted integra, at 9500rpm, making 23psi of boost...it sounded like a freakin jet engine at full thrust...i miss the sound and feel of boost, bad.

With the exception of that F40, all of the boosted car vids you posted were just the sound of the BOV going. Get some real vids where you can actually hear the pissed off sound of a boosted engine making 4x the factory NA output.

The Audi S1 (and actually all of the Audi 5-cylinder race cars) are my favorite sounding cars ever. And they were also mosters, with some of the rally cars supposedly putting out around 1000hp, depending on the surface.
