HELP PLEASE!!
I have a 94 honda with a d15b and a while ago the check engine light came on. Throttle response was different-engine idles very low. If I bring idle up to 1400 it slowly bounces up and down in rpm. Well this fucking morning I decide
I'm going to take it into the shop and fix it-it DIES on my way to work.
Any ideas of what may be the problem?
Thanks

Oxygen sensors maybe or tps...

That's just based off of the rpm and bouncing issues.

Just get a scan tool and see what is throwing the code.

We can guess all day long what we think might cause the issue but in reality the time spent guessing is outweighed by getting a scan tool and figuring out the problem within seconds.

^^ true true I was trying to avoid buying a scan tool if I had to.
Hoping it was a commen issue with the idle and all..

You know what.. Try calling all the local auto parts stores...i THOUGHT i remember seeing/hearing that one of them could scan codes for free...

I am not sure but it's worth a shot.

you dont need a scan tool on an obd1 honda. there is a jumper plug just above the passenger side kick panel, jump the plug and the check engine light will flash, count the flashes and thats the problem.

and if that doesnt make sense...this will.

iacv?

turbo2cam
03-18-2009, 03:12 PM
iacv?

generally the iacv wont make the idle drop...if anything it will idle up, (basically a large vacum leak) or search for the idle (the anoying wah...wah...wah...up and down idle) it really could be a gambit of things...start with teh CEL code and report back.

im more leaning towards something with the ignition, since the car died. an IACV or FITV or even TPS, o2 sensor wont make the car die...it will set a check engine light and make it run in limp mode and run like shit....

coil/ignitor

i believe i have both at home.

since i have no honda to use them in, i will gladly sell them lol

you really should see what the CEL says though...cause usually the coil/ignitor going out, doesnt cause a CEL....

There is a little oil in side the dizzy, i was told that can take out some electrical (makes sense) and create an engine light? Is this possible?
not a lot of oil just a little. the bottom of the cap is oily but no drips.
Thanks for the help and advise so far guys.
Oh yeah the cel light, I feel dumb here but I found the connector, jumped it and the damn srs light just flashes?? what did I do wrong here?
