I want to get one for this season, but i have no idea where to buy one/what is good.

all i want is a plain black one for a good price from a reliable seller

first need to decide if you want open or closed faced??? then decide your price ...and when it comes to helmets price does matter.....

i would recommend going to cycle gear on fairview by the yahmaha dealership... they have a wide range of styles and brands and find what you like...

then go online and buy it cheaper...

I personally like an open faced helmet for auto-x and drag racing... you have a hard enough time trying to see stuff in a car period you don't need to worry about the helmet getting in the way..

i have ordered a couple helmets from this place

I personally us a HJC-CL31

Do they have to be Snell approved? If so then get a 3/4 snell for like $100 at Carl Cycle's. I got a full face for $130.

Yeas they must be snell approved. I forget the offical rating, but it shouldn't be hard to find.

Full face can only be used in non airbag cars. If you have an airbag you are supposed to run a 3/4 helmet. Any brand will work, make sure its at least snell 2005. Older years are being outlawed soon

Brain, hit me up before you buy. If all your going to do is autox, just get any Snell rated open face. Just make sure the Snell rating is on an affixed label on the inside of the helmet. The snell labels on the back of any helmet DOES NOT COUNT.

Stickers look like these:

M for motorcycle, SA for automotive. If you plan on doing other events in the area like hillclimbs or go to tracks out of town you could need an SA rated helmet. SO make sure you do your research on all the places you plan on playing so you dont have to buy more than one helmet.

I picked up my M-rated open face at Carls cycle sales on State for 80 bucks. However, if you like the g-force helmets, I can still get good deals on them locally.

I got my SA2005 open faced HJC at Carl's for a little over $100, IIRC. It's pretty nice and comfy, although it is a little bulky and heavy compared to some others, like the G-force ones. But for the price it's great.

Bri...Shea is right you need to make sure you get an SA Snell approved. Fulmer has some nice full face SA helmets for about $200. I got the "AEM" one before they had the flat black which I wish I had. Wish I would have known you wanted on they had them on sale at Super Autobacs when I was there last weekend...30% off.

Well, he really only needs an SA rating if he plans on doing any track days or events out of our area. For Hillclimbs (which he said he was scared of anyway, lol) and anything around this area other than circle track racing an M rating is usally more than enough.

Wait... so Shea we have to have an SA helmet in order to run Freezeout and Bogus?

Nope, M rated is fine for our local hillclimbs. Sorry for the confusion.
