Ok so i'm thinking about getting a 1g TSi. But i guess there's a fuel problem.

from what he told me it sounds like the injectors. Here's the story from what i remember:

he got the car from a guy that rebuilt the engine in it, something happened to it so he replaced the CAS, it ran for a day i guess, then it died again, something that he hasn't figured out yet, but he's pretty sure it's fuel related since he sprayed something in the intake then it fired right up.

i suggested that it could possibly be the fuel pump but he said that there was some pressure in the line and that the fuel pump is working. that's where i come to the conclusion that it's the injectors.

what do you guys think it sounds like? I'm really interested in the car since the rebuilt engine only has around 1500 miles on it.

Form what you posted there could be a million things wrong with it. MAS is bad, ECu is bad, fuel pump is bad, injectors bad ect ect. There should be a fuel pump check connector to test the fuel pump with. So that is easy to check.

Point blank. If you can't tell what is wrong with the car yourself when you look at, don't buy it. That is my number one rule. Just because Mr X says the engine was rebuilt is not even a good reason to buy it. Who rebuilt the engine? Was it a shop? Does he have proof it was rebuilt. I picked up a engine for a core that was "rebuilt" and let me tell you, rebuilt was not what I would have called it. I picked it up for very cheap and planed on tearing it down anyway. So it was no big deal.

The only time I break rule number one is if I have plenty of moeny and the shell would be worth the effort if it turns out to be something big.

Sorry if I seem negative.

yea, if it was easy to fix ex: just replacing the injectors to sell a good running car, why would he not?

Go here: http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html

Lots of answers to your questions can be found here. If you do pick up the car it will help you out even more.

if i end up deciding that i do want to get this car, the next time i go check it out i'm going to take a compression checker, and another set of injectors to see if that is whats wrong with it.

but apparently the ECU is new too, but i dont quite know if that was true, the guy seemed like he didn't know much about the car, which makes me a bit skeptical.

x2. I would say the exact same thing.

From my experience, because the same thing was going on with my car, it was a MAS/MAF issue.

And rebuilt? Yay! crossjerk: Who built it? How about specs? Ill never buy a "rebuilt" engine from Joe across the street. I bought an engine for a core too for my X and luckily all I needed was the block!

Good luck, take a buddy that knows DSMs and have him look at it. They can be very picky.
