Has anyone noticed any new trends? I can see VIP coming in style.. but as for that, not much. JDM seems to be on its way out.
For me i think people are going to go the route of creating more stock/clean looking cars that are sleepers.

I'm just curious what makes you feel this way? Personally, I haven't seen any indication that JDM is going away, at least not at a rate different than that of the entire import scene.
And as far as the import scene dying, I don't think people have all of a sudden lost interest in cars. I think everybody's just broke, and modding cars isn't a high priority in times like these. I'm sure it'll come back strong when the world's economies pick up!
As far as trends go, I don't see VIP catching on locally, but maybe elsewhere. VIP is a section of the import scene dominated by looks and luxury, and people in Idaho are too drag racing oriented to get behind that kind of style, IMO. Also, building VIP cars is EXPENSIVE, and there aren't many knockoffs available, meaning you get very little for your mod money. Again, in my experience with the local scene, that's not what people around here are looking for.
I think economy and micro cars might start to catch on in the near future. While gas prices have subsided for now, they'll go back up eventually, and I think people will look for more performance out of small cars that get better mileage. Much like the import scene now, but with even smaller cars.

I definitely agree. I think that as the economy sits in the slump that it is in, people will lean towards the smaller micro cars. I think a good example of the transition is the Honda Fit. Its not quite a micro car or electric car but it is a small car with a fuel efficient engine that has a lot of tuning potential. I want one:)
omg its drunk scott.

I love my box. Sure it's slow but it get 33mpg no mater how I drive it. It eats cheap gas and I can stuff tons of stuf in it.
I think time attack / Track stuff may get really big. Well the economy might keep that from happening but if it doesn't I have seen lots of interest in this area.

At least with an EF, JDM parts just aren't as available as they once were. It's forcing people in different directions.

please explain the point of time attack
all cars are on the track, so theres traffic, so how can you get a true measure of your true time
IMO its retarded. i used to like it, but then i realiezed, why cant they just do class racing like SCCA?

The whole car scene is kinda dead right now. Most of my RX-7 forums are pretty quite these days.

Would like to see the VIP style grow here, but it will be slaughtered from the low budget ballers. I can see lots of fwd vip wannabe style biters. Nothing wrong with that, but its not true vip.
Time atack is killer, if we had a venue. The style is much like I like allready. Mods that do something or stock looking cept under the hood.
The K-trucks are fucking sweet. Id love to have one of those to rock around town.
Who knows, dont really care. I just do what I like. Always have. I call it shadm.
There was a time when everybody told me I was stupid for dumping money into a 4dr sedan...now theres hundreds of them that are socially accepted and nobody thinks twice them. And now wagons are getting popular...which I think is cool. Ive always loved wagons of most makes.

I don't know about you guys but I think the car scene is starting to go back into the body kit scene but with power this time and not as hideous as the fast in the furious type days. More like something subtle and clean that painted to match the body color.... Ive been seeing them pop up on a few forums and a few mags lately...

i dunno bout you guys, but i am so down with the flashy as tits, low as fuck, loud as balls, fast as shit, handles like crazy, stops like mad.......scene.
i love to see badass cars with broken aero, stickers all over, HUGEEE gt wings, BOV's all up in my face. thats the kinda jdm style i'd like to see around here. i'll try my best to represent it accordingly.

I would like to see more exotic builds out there. I mean Boise has a fair share of crazy builds but I would like to see more builds be exposed in the treasure valley.

I can see a new trend coming on. Just look back ten years ago, the ricer trend was huge. Then we moved into the JDM trend, i can see VIP or BOSO being big eventually.
