Hands down the s2000 would beat the pants off the mustang...in a parking lot or on a real track. Just because someone cut the wheel wells out and put stupid insane wheels and tires on doesnt take away from the fact that it is a mustang...old crappy technology (if you can even call it technology)...and stock for stock the only track the mustang would beat the S would be in a straight line. Look at the track times for stock cars on Tsukuba...even a bone stock New civic Type R smashed a Bone stock R34 GTR.

The S2000 is an amazing car bone stock. When I autox'ed my eg I stomped on mustangs and not one EVER beat me on times....ever..cobra, not cobra, 5.0...even modded ones. They are junk. PERIOD

Just to make this clear, I HATE mustangs. But also, just FYI:

The FASTEST s2000 at Solo Nationals last year ran a 117.425 total combined time between the two days (best run on each day combined). This is a XP car, meaning you can do just about whatever you want. This car was supercharged, running HUGE hoosier tires, with just about anything you can think of done to it.

(It looked different than this at Nat's, with MUCH bigger tires, etc.)

The FASTEST Mustang ran a 111.826 combined, and it was a '65 Mustang GT350 (although it was a CP car, so like the s2k, it's nowhere near stock, but had to retain it's original engine and displacement, and can't use any forced induction.)

And thanks, I've been to PIR and did a track day there in my old Corrado about 4 years ago. Yep, it was a lot of fun, but that shit's expensive to do all the time. Autocross is a much more affordable way to race, that's why it's so popular. Even the guys that spend $100k+ on autocross cars (which many do) it is still way cheaper than actually fielding a race car in almost any class for a whole season (Spec Miata and Spec E30 are probably the only exceptions to this).

N.A.S.A. offers HPDEs and they are cheap as shit! i'm sorry but autocross doesnt compare to being on track dave.

Just an FYi for ya Dave...many of the guys I beat locally were very good drivers and have been doing it for years...beat a handfull of corvette and camaro guys too. I would never have beaten them on larger tracks. I personally dont care about pro solos...its just glorified autox. Not dissing on autox though.
