They probably don't handle as well as a thought out and purpose built set of coilovers, but from what I hear they do quite well on the track.

Air totally rocks the world in like 36 different languages. Im working on a setup right now. luckily Im an old minitrucker and have had a few cars on air in my day

I have donw a lot of research on Air-ride cause I have always wanted a car with it..

If you want you car to handle then DON'T put air on it. However I did talk to the K-sport rep at SEMA about the air setup and he said there car handles no different then any other car on coils.

I really like the Air bag on top of the coil setup and wish more companies would look into producing them....

Almost all of the pictures I have of cars on air are VWs because those are the forums I frequent, I have posted more non-VWs in this thread than you have so I don't think you have any room to complain.

Air will ride as good as coils, the only difference is your spring is an air bag. Also if you dont setup your air ride right to were your bags fill each other going around corners, you counter act that by putting in one way valves.

I have been joking about bags since it would get be alot lower then my coils will. But that first video you posted really makes me want bags now, already have coils just need the bags....

i love air ride.

there is nothing better for getting a car low and still being functional. and YES they handle just fine....an air bag is still a spring...its just a variable spring. and for people that say it cant handle....you're dumb. the right combination of shocks and swaybars will comensate for the soft "spring rate" afforded by an airbag. an air bag equiped car's suspension functions exactly the same as a spring based setup...only difference is the spring has a much lower "spring rate" and is infinitely adjustable based on bag volume. full bag = stiff spring rate, deflated bag = soft spring rate. you will get more body roll with bags....what do we do to compensate for body roll? sway bars. you will get more front to back weight transfer...how do we compensate? shocks that are valved correctly to control that transfer. what spring you are running (weather static or active) is just a small part of the equation....and its not even the most important part.

i love air ride.

and to be devils advocate...i think the only drawback to air ride and handling is the alignment. since its an active suspension your alignment will always be changing. not good for handling, performance, or tire wear......but thats the cost you pay for adjustable suspension.

With fast air valves, they are quite a rush of air coming out, almost like a BOV, and then the compressor when it kicks on, but you can quiet them down by using a box with sound deadening material around it covering the compressor. You could use normal release valves, but it takes a little more time to drop it, and you get a nice "hiss" for the amount of time it takes to drop the car.
