89 Dodge Caravn
Block: stock 2.5L turbo
Head: P+P "G-Head" SOHC 8-valve
Transmission: turbo 3-speed automatic
Turbo: Turbonetics T3 Super60
Supporting Mods: 3" Swing valve/exhaust, ported exhaust manifold, FMIC, custom ECU, TurboXS boost controller, SSQV BOV, Underdrive pulley, walbro fuel pump, +40% fuel injectors, crank scraper, adjustable cam gear, Zeitronix datalogging, Knocksense, weight redux (300lbs?), probably a few things I can't think of right now...

Best time: 13.7 @ 96.9 on slicks w/ 17psi boost on 93 octane... will pull some 12's on race gas this upcoming year!

Just a fun sleeper, always gets people excited at firebird, despite it not being an 8 second dragster. I haul stuff from home depot in this, go camping with it... it can do WAY more than damn near any other weekend racer can, so I can justify putting money into it a bit easier. And no, I'm not mormon. But my van is. ;)

Update: Here is a vid of my best run... camera sux, get over it.

I love this thing!

The first time I saw it at firebird in the staging lanes I was so confused as to why someone would drag a caravan and then I saw under the hood. I want this to cruise around and stomp on ricers.

Whats funny is, I kept checking Craigslist for about 6 months and one FINALLY showed up in Caldwell. I had a lot of delay in going down to pick it up... started at like $800, $500, then when I went to check it out, he said $400 and it was mine! On top of that, it was in great shape (errr... engine wise).

Thanx guys! I need to get more pics up, I have tons of pics to post... and I need to get my damn exhaust done soon. I miss this beast :(

This one one of the first things we saw race when we moved to Idaho.

I think my girlfriend wants you. Or maybe its just the van she got excited about.

I do wonder though. Jess do you smile down the whole track? Or just when your burning out or see people's reaction?

Whats funny is EVERY time I drive the van, its nothing more than the sheer thought of just being in it, knowing what it does, that makes me LOL pretty hard.

The funnest thing to do is when I go by the local oil change place (or anywhere that people are standing outside), haul ass up until I get right in front, 16psi... let off... PSHHHHH goes the BOV. And EVERY SINGLE TIME, people just look around clueless. I'll bet money their thoughts were "Damn whatever was hauling ass, its gotta be behind that POS minivan cuz I can't see it!"

:D

Outside of Firebird, I can't get a race if my life depended on it. NOBODY takes me seriously.

But its just fun to drive anyways. Plus, the seats are awesome comfy.

Did I mention that when I go camping in the beast, we just toss everything out the back, throw an inflatable mattress in the rear, and that is our tent? Man, I love this van...

Hey! The spirit is still sitting in my... well, might as well be a salvage yard! But its just waiting for me to get motivation and time to rebuild the other block and throw it all back together. I'll either keep it, give it to a family member, or sell it from there. If I keep it, I know ill want to spend money on it, so I hope one or the other :D

Something wicked this way comes...
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/Intakemanifoldcompare1.jpg

Obviously cut much shorter for shorter runners. I will be putting a HUGE plenum on in comparison to that stock POS. Also, the elbow from the plenum to the throttle body will much more opened up and ready to get some air in there evenly! I expect quite a bit of gain from this...

04-01-2009, 06:48 PM
Thats a good modification right there. If you need help welding it up, let me know!

MacDrizzle
04-02-2009, 12:21 PM
Make sure you make the runner cuts in the new plenum as tight as possible so I don't have to weld complete canyon size gaps. Don't u dare cut on my manifold you damn quaker! LOL

Alright, went and ran a 13.3 @ 99MPH last weekend (woot) but broke something (doh!).

Turns out the torque hit of the slicks from 0 movement to ~17 psi in an instant really didnt make the thick little washer for the control arm happy...
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/100_3029.jpg
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/100_3031.jpg

So while I'm at it... might as well get a few upgrades going...
Urethane bushings...
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/100_3035.jpg
Diff pin savers (Dodge's are known to shoot differential pins like its at an Olympic event!)
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/100_3034.jpg

Also doing some welding on the control arms to strengthen it up, as well as replacing the ball joints (weren't THAT bad yet, but preventative maintenance.)

DUDE you are behind the times :D hehehe... nah, I just bought a Lincoln 220v mig this last weekend... AMAZING the different in weld quality :D Will have all the stuff for aluminum welding, too... so whenever you are ready to work on your manifold (and mine!)!!!

You bitch why didn't you tell me sooner. I bet that sombitch welds tities. I am glad to see you have stepped out of Omish country into Menonite land. Ha Ha. Are you buying a spool gun. Make sure to get 100% argon for aluminum. No more transporting parts that need to be welded! YAY!

Good god about time I did this...

3 new motor mounts. 2 completely solid urethane, 1 new stock mount filled.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/newmounts.jpg

Front mount, stock VS urethane.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/frontmount.jpg

Tranny mount, stock VS urethane.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/Trannymount.jpg

Passenger mount, stock VS urethane.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l131/nodestiny/Passmount.jpg

Vibration and rattle is definitely more noticeable at idle/lower RPM, but highway and what not, not noticeable at all.

And I have to say, spool guns can lick my butt.
