So hopefully soon i am getting a 93 twin turbo supra
and i was wondering what would the best option be... for a manual transmission
i really wanna go with the getrag 6 speed but they are like 3 grand alone
i was told you could use an older supra transmission

i wanna go somewhere in the middle as cheap as possible with it being reliable
i wanna get around the 450-500hp and i need a tranny thats not gonna grenade under around that amount of power....

im also gonna need to get the clutch pedal assembly and what not
im not sure if i could use an older supras clutch pedal assembly

i have about 2000-3000 to get this swap done.

any one please help haha i need ideas

Save your money and buy a V-160. Anything less will just be disappointing in that car.

PyROO

the cheapest v 160 is like 3200 on ebay.... shipped
then plus ill need the rear end....
it gets spendy

ok so now im kinda confused
the guy im buying the supra from says the motor is from an aristo.... BUT he said the motor and transmission came together.... and the tranny is a 5 speed
ive seen pictures and the motor is all bolted in
but i thought they didnt fit because the aristo is a front oil sump motor
and i didnt know they came in a 5 speed OR if its a twin turbo supra motor then i didnt think they made 5 speeds for them

turbo2cam

the aristo came with a r-154 trans. 5 speed.

PyROO

hmm ok... so that makes more sense
are there any places in boise that are good at wiring?

the guy says the motor isnt connected up because the ecu is suppose to be on the left...
because it was out of a right hand drive car
but so are sr20s....

i dont see why that would matter
it all sounds kinda fishy to me.... but i really want a supra
so it basically has a twin turboed motor and a 5 speed
it has the ecu and wiring the wiring just isnt connected
the car was originally a automatic N/A supra
so id need a drive shaft and clutch pedal assmebly and HOPEFULLY it should be easy from there

to use a rhd engine in a lhd car, you just use a lhd harness. ive ran into that before, and yes rhd harness's wont work in a lhd car. usually its more intensive to try and adapt a rhd harness, rather than buying its lhd equivilent.

i re-read some of your posts and edited my post....i was confused on what the hell you were doing lol

and yes, thats what you need.

if the car is auto already, why not keep it auto? auto supras are pretty badass...

sounds like your getting an NA supra with an aristo swapped motor in it.....

Talk to JDMITR bout wiring he was helping TMS with his aristo swap in his GS

PyROO
03-25-2010, 01:28 PM
its not at auto i talked to they guy i guess
they took the original motor and tranny out and put an aristo with a 5 speed....
so i would either need help wiring it or buying the right wiring harness...

turbo2cam
03-25-2010, 01:32 PM
just buy a harness....hacking up a wire harness is never a good idea IMO.

PyROO
03-25-2010, 01:38 PM
any idea where i could get one.... and would it plug into the aristo ecu?

PyROO
03-25-2010, 01:42 PM
im confused.... why would i need a new harness when everyone who does sr swaps dont need a usdm wiring harness....
the ecu on an sr is on the left and when they put it in a american 240 it goes to the right... so im confused

03-25-2010, 01:44 PM
i would get on supraforums and do some reading....

Yea you need to be asking people with first hand experience on what you're dealing with. I could dig through the forums and find your answer but it would be better if you did it on your ownski

Below is the video of the car when it was in running condition, it is still in the same condition now as it was when the video was recorded the only difference is there is a twin turbo engine in there now and isn't connected.

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=58021451

Flaws-
The interior isn't bad, the only damage is a rip on the back leather seat and behind the backseat where the seats fold down the mechanic fraud took out the carpeting that covers the springs and cushioning of the backseat (easy fix though, you can also see what i'm talking about in picture IMG00186).
Front bumper lip has a tear.
Front bumper right corner has a tear.
There's a small ding on the drivers door that the camera couldn't pick up.
Rear quarter behind side light passenger side has a small dent.
Gas door was broken when I got the car, so I replaced the door and cap surround but don't have the bolts to fully install it (nothing wrong).
Passenger rear quarter vent is missing a push tab so it sticks out (again nothing wrong, just never got to it).
CF hood has stress cracks, I was going to repair them and paint it body color but I'm out of money.
Over all the paint is ok at best.
And the 5 speed shifter is pictured in IMG00187.

i need opinions
the car has the aristo motor in it at the moment
not wired up it has the 5 speeed
the car has 198k on the chassis
has a repaired title.

the guy wants 5k i really want a supra but i need opinions from people who have delt witha supra and what they are worth because im having second thoughts now

idk man. seems like a lot of work for a car that may or may not run. maybe i'm just mad that i bought an s13 with an alleged sr20det that was really an sr20de-t and needs a rebuild.

+1 It sounds pretty hodge podge already.

I have extended a few 1JZ harnesses for MKIII swaps, it's not a big deal if you know what you're doing.

On the flip side of that coin if you're not well organized, don't know how to solder, dont pay attention and don't know how to heat-shrink, this is an imminent train wreck.

There are tricks to wiring these so they work (the shielded wires are very temperamental) assuming you have the rest of the process down.

Money pit that will not be as cool as a legit one is my $.02.

Finish one of the 15 cars you already have.

So your getting a salvaged tittle NA Supra that has a aristo motor just sitting in it and who knows if it runs or not or how much work it needs to get there...

I would say pass unless its the deal of the century and 5K it's it in my opinion.... even a nicely swapped NA supra isn't worth nearly what a true TT supra is worth

ok heres what u will need and what i suggest..

manual trans - go with the r-154 its not a getrag but its the next best thing..
u ask y, how?. the r-154 can hold 700whp. but not if u are super hard on it. if u wanna step it up get a martin crawler kit for it and beef it up..

things u will need for a r-154 to 2jz-gte

-1jz bellhousing. driftmotion.com sells them
-1jz flywheel. also from them^^
- fly wheel bolts
- r-154 clutch
- r-154 presure plate.

harness.. the rhd JDM harness is a foot or so to short. i suggest lengthing it out..
why? because its almost impossible to find a usdm harness. and when u do they are super expensive. 600$+

the jdm harness will just need a few things changed on it such as map/ to maf and a couple other lil things

eazy swap, just do it right.

driftmotion sells everything u need. talk to aron he will hook u up

CHAdBROchiLL17
03-25-2010, 09:41 PM
shit i didnt read the other pages.. o well.

it will be badass man just do it

oh and u will have to change the tack out to a manual one

BRINGTHERUCKUS
03-25-2010, 10:27 PM
well honestly dont blow it on something like that, so many things could be wrong, like derek. unless like stated it is super cheap, which i doubt it is. i would only spend the money on something like that if i knew everything was legit. fuck people, no one is trustworthy hardly, esp with shifty car shit. :shifty:

PyROO
03-25-2010, 10:29 PM
yeah you are right....

its 5k for a supra but if i really want a supra might as welll get a real tt or something i know is in good condition

BRINGTHERUCKUS
03-25-2010, 10:38 PM

PyROO
03-25-2010, 10:52 PM
yeah true.... but i just love how the mk4s look... but then again its a salvaged title
and its not in that great of shape

BRINGTHERUCKUS
03-25-2010, 10:57 PM
yea, judging from the video it looks very haggard. a definite pass. give it some time and thought and find something really worth while. dont let that cash just be burnin in your pocket.

Yeah the vid makes it look pretty haggard. The bodywork isn't all that bad, but the frontend appears to be rattle-canned, and the rest looks a bit faded/flaking clearcoat. But the real worry for me would be the half finished engine swap. If the swap were finished, and running, 5k would be a steal, but half finished I would shy away from paying more than I could sell the parts for. Guy probably got it and rattlecanned (halfassed) swapped frontends.

BRINGTHERUCKUS

get this

PyROO
04-01-2010, 03:03 PM
that would be pretty cool but idk im not really into the mk3s i only like the mk4s

zenkiderek
04-01-2010, 03:07 PM
i'm opposite. however, orido's d1 mkiv is pretty cool. but to me, an mkiv is just a japanese corvette. it's cool, but tools in america get foose's, 1000hp, and stock suspension.

PyROO
04-01-2010, 03:23 PM
well i think im just gonna get a 240sx coupe
sell the s14
get a silvia front
some coils
some rims
and maybe an sr
then save the rest of my money for collge or something

zenkiderek
04-01-2010, 03:36 PM
that would be cool.

BRINGTHERUCKUS
04-01-2010, 05:16 PM
why didnt you keep your silvia front? haha

you just need to get one 240 and make it badass (hard coming from me) but quit wheelin and dealin haha
