Carb tuning

Well, I'm going to be buying a new carb for my supermoto & I need a little info on what I should be doing as far as jetting the carb properly. I know dick about carbs, so that's why I'm asking you guise!

I'm upgrading to the keihin 39mm fcr carb off of a crf450. The kit I'm buying has a bunch of different jets that comes with it. I'm going to get a new head pipe & tail section. I just want it to run good. Not sure which jets to use for the mods I have and the climate & elevation of the valley

So any advice would be helpful

from my experience carbs are all trial and error... when I got a carb kit for my Z400 it also got a jet kit with it and it had some base setting to start at including how to set the clip on the needle. main and slow jet settings... a wide band is never a bad thing to have....

Im thinking the motard 400 is a wee bit hotter than the Z400 engine but i'm not positive. Too bad you aren't around here I know some guys who could help you out.

Yea mine has been modded. K&N, open up the airbox (3x3 mod) JD jet kit & debaffled stock exhaust. I'm getting the 39mm fcr carb to replace the gutless stock carb, along with the MRD exhaust. I also just bought a new sm fender from acerbis today.

Got my new fender today. I still need to hack it up but from the looks of it, it will flow more air into my radiators and it's just plain bitchin
