Congratz Spazz, I'm very jealous. That is a bad-ass camera. Let me know how you like that APS sized sensor. It will be interesting to watch how that format developes.
Hey, I'm headed to Hawaii in a month. Let's hook up and you can show me the new camera. . . Did I mention that I hate you?
I'll be in Honalulu. Not sure where you are located.

23views- Im still in Iraq, maybe be back in july
Ya as fast i this can shoot at as high ISO woulnt need it as much. But i can shoot very slow shutter without needing a tripod.
The other goodies i got were a 8 gig sandisk extreme udma 60mb/s card, 4 gig lexar crucial card, reader, grip and extra battery, rechargeable batteries for my flash and a cool charger for them.
I was going to get a 50d but herd and read alot of bad reviews being the image was really soft on any lens. And seamed like canon fixed it with the 7d. Plus its stupid fast, this camera other then sensor size is comparable to the 5d mark 2. Dual Digic 4 processors 8 fps burst to 140 pics at full res. Thing is just nuts. Only thing holding me back is lenses. And thats then next thing after i get my lights. 2 ab800's and 1 rab800 and vagabond setup. But i wount be able to touch those till i get back from deployment.
ill try to post more pictures but with the internet here (128k) being the fastest it gets annoying to load anything to the net.

no davedoesntknoweverything. i was talking about a stabilizer like this http://www.camotionllc.com/blackbird-a-78.html it does some pretty amazing stuff when shooting hd at high zoom and such. You can really tell the difference.

Yeah, I'm aware of those, and I know they make a big difference, but if you're REALLY serious about shooting video, you'd be looking into something more along the lines of the Red system:
http://www.red.com/cameras/
I'm not really a fan of video in DSLR's. I know there are lots of people that like them, but IMO, there should be still cameras and video cameras, not one that does both because it will never do both as well as a dedicated setup.

Yea I was pretty sure u knew about it I was just giving u shit. And I kind of understand about not having video and shot in one but u can't deny what a bang for the buck it is.

Agreed but this was the best in my price range and i wasnt ready to go to a 5d mark something. and i was going with the 50d but got a ton of bad reviews. I really dont plan in doing much with the video anyways.

Canon > Nikon when it comes to lenses
Nikon > Canon when it comes to bodies
I shoot Canon :)

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there Mirko.
Why do you think that companies make adapters for Nikon lenses to Canon bodies (and that a LOT of Canon shooters are using the Nikon 14-24 and 24-70 among other lenses on their Canon bodies). The only thing that Canon has going as far as lenses these days is pricing, which is why I am considering switching to Canon. Otherwise, Nikon's lenses are sharper, and the autofocus on all of them, Canon and Nikon, is lightning fast these days. The only area that Nikon is lacking in is updating their fast primes to AF-S (35mm f/1.4, 85 f/1.4, 105 f/2 or f/1.8, 135 f/2). They just released a 24mm f/1.4 last week, which is a huge sign that the rest of the lenses are on their way with AF-S and other upgrades. Also there is a rumor that they are working on and is already being field tested a 50mm f/1.2, and I'm sure the rest of the lenses are being tested right now as well.

Just because they make an adapter it doesn't mean it's better... lol
DubstepDave
02-15-2010, 12:35 PM
Not only do they make it, but many MANY 1Ds mk3 and 5D mk2 users are using the 14-24 because NOTHING in the Canon lineup comes even close to it in sharpness, even primes. Every single test that comes out with the newest Nikon lenses and Canon lenses has the Nikon's in a clear lead in sharpness, light falloff, etc... And Nikon has always had the sharper lenses, it's just that Canon's autofocus on their lenses was much better than Nikon until about 5 years ago or so (mostly because Nikon used a autofocus motor built into the body and used a screw drive system rather than focus motors in the lens).

not sure were i decided to shoot canon but i have been happy with them so far and would hate at this point in time to switch.
But also at this point with cameras i think the differences are very small if you compare them to equal bodies. But they make adapters so if i ever want to shoot a nikon lens i can.
Soooooooo no more debate, ill post pics of the new camera once it comes in.

But camera is amazing, cant wait to upgrade to L lenses to get the full potential of the sensor.

I finally got to take my first photos with it. I'm loving the new autofocus algorithms, much more intuitive than my 40D. I think I'll like the high ISO settings too, although haven't shot in the dark yet. Took some hi-def video of my dog, it turned out really lousy. Hard to get used to the manual focus when I've been so spoiled by AF all these years. After that experience I priced a good follow-focus on B&H. . . shit like $800-$1500. . . damn. Shoulda bought a $150 camcorder instead!

Riiiiiiight, lol jk, the camera is only part of the equation of the photo taken, the majority is the person shooting the camera.
I have some books i can recommend if you want some reading.

I'm anxious to see the results from both of you. When I have time to read anything not related to law, I'll pick up a book and learn to use my Nikon properly. Until then, I just snap away when I have some time :)
Ben, come home and put that camera to work!
