Been looking at car rig shots and setups and was wounder what you guys use. I like the clamp on the underside idea since it doesnt mess with the paint but the suction cups seam quicker/easier to setup.
So just curios to what your setups include? Gunna go to home depot and do some planning for a simple setup.

The only one of us on here that uses a rig is Mirko (insepsis) and his is a couple of simple double pad suction handles for handling glass, a big pole, and then he devised a little thing on the end that uses the same thread as the tripod socket on the bottom of the camera. Really simple, cheap, and pretty effective.

I use a 12ft lightstand as my pole... and 2 double cup suction cups for the windows....
Pretty simple... you can get a bogen magic arm for a ton more control, or build some sort of a mounting setup...

Here is a good shot of my setup...
Cost me about $50 (it would be more if I got a used Bogen magic arm)

The only one where I can really tell where the rig was is the last one. For someone like me who has no idea, how do you photochop that. Double exposure kinda thing or just mad tight photoshop skillz yo?

Ya the suction cup one seams to be the most common. I kinda like the way the bottom mount ones, that use the clamps just for easier photochoping.
but buying a $800 one is just dumb when they are so simple. Rather spend the other 6-700 on a lens.
hopefully ill have a setup when i get back to the states but thanks for the input!
And how do you like your setup? anything you would change other then the magic arm?

You just have to clone a lot... lot... lol
the bottom mounts are usually easier to shop out since you only have a mild reflection vs the shadow, mounts and reflections that you have to remove...

So on the poles to reduce flex or bounce, do you want heavy or just ridged? Or is it mainly how your hooked up?
From what i have seen most setups have the avenger pump suction cups, and the manfrotto magic arm. The rest seems to be either kit or found parts at like home depot or some were.
so, who rides on the end of the pole to push the button then?

You can either have a wireless remote or just use a cable remote, the car is like going 1-2 mph. You could even push the car and still get the same effect. But you can walk with the camera.

You usually want to push it so you don't get the motor shake in the car...
Motor shake fucks everything up, so leave it in neutral, put on a 10 second timer.... push the car for 5 seconds and then get out of the shot...
