I did a lot of drag racing and had fun learning how to get good but then I got bored and sick of the bullshit so I haven't been much this year. I still like to go down the strip every once in awhile and I will be making it to the Vegas Bracket Nationals this year for a 3rd time in row and plan to keep attending it in the future as drag racing there is always a good time but I would never build a dedicated drag racer.

Exactly. I was the drag team president for meridian high. That meant i pretty much had to be out there for EVERY high school event. I got really fuckin bored running a 16 flat every single pass. I even came up with ways to entertain myself. I set my own record for a 40 Second pass with cruise control on. I was asked afterword by the firebird tech if my car was broken, I just responded with "I was bored"

like everyone else in here said, it was kinda fun in high school to do occasionally, and i've been out to firebird twice since then, but it's just boring.

It gets pretty boring to watch after a while unless somebody I know is running. If I'm running my car and it isn't being a pre-menstrual cunt I have a good time.
Probably be boring to me though if I spent every weekend out there, running or not.

No, I really do HATE NASCAR with a passion, I really do, but I'd probably rather go to a NASCAR race in person than go watch drag racing.

I don't like watching drag racing either but I would like to go watch top fuels at least once in my life. To see a car go a 1/4 mile in 4 seconds at 330 mph would be way cooler than watching nascar.

To be honest it is a ton of fun to build a Dragcar. But it sucks when you don't even get to drive it cause it ain't yours. I enjoy drag racing but I'd rather be on the street cruizing around and showing off!
i love drag racing. period. watching, running a car, whatever. my adrenaline pumps even when it is on the tube.

Drag racing has always been my favorite thing to do. My wife doesn't like auto x at all but she goes to support me. No matter what, ill always be out there drag racing, i love it!
Too many slow cars. Sometimes I think they are rental cars...wtf is a pontiac g6 doing out there? I loved watching that orange 240z run, jakes old talon was cool, bretts supra was also awsome to watch but gawd, that is the whole night summed up. In between those guys, there are a ton of 16 sec hondas and crotch rockets..and oh shit what this?...some slow car just blew oil all over the track...that will be another half hour wasted...it just got old real fast.

Drag racing has gone downhill. There just isnt the type of builders into it that made if fun a few years ago. Bretts poopra now lies dormant in our garage. Sad to see.

I'd drive nascar, but watching it? lame. I feel about the same way w/ drag racing, but its more tolerable since you don't watch the same cars over and over and over again... a lot more variety in dragging. Come to think of it, autocross isn't exactly fun to watch either. Driving any of these is just the way to do i.t

I honestly think fire bird is the downfall of drag racing here...there just to set in there ways to change..which is sad cause I enjoyed going out there meeting up with everyone and hanging out.... Good times Good times.....
problem is, you guys dont make it fun when you are out there. ever thought that instead of sitting in the pits bs'in with a friend, that you could go around and talk to the old timers out there, or maybe go out when it isnt an import jam race or high school race? bring a bbq, play poker in between the faster cars, give advice to people just starting out. you all know the guy in the vette, newer 04 or something marron vette? he was new to racing, i helped him out, gave him advice on what to do ect. he is now a pretty good bracket racer (that's all he does, car only runs mid 12's factory) but it was enjoyable not to just go out there and watch the races. i think most of you guyz problems start with the attitude that you dont want to watch 15-16 second cars race. you remember when you ran your 16 second car and your adrenaline was pumping? it wasnt because your car was uber fast, but the enviroment you were in. maybe your all just spoiled lololol.
i like going out there, not just to watch the races, but to see people, eat, drink beer, bs with the techs, scott and brad, doesnt matter. it is an atmosphere that isnt just about racing if you can broaden your outlook on the place.

Why is that my friend? My father and I have spent a ton of man hours building, testing, and racing that car. So it isn't a Hachi, or 240 with tiny rims and a ton of stretch but give respect where respect is due.

I am sure you have... and I have nothing against hard work and doing what you love..
I just don't see any fun in driving that...but if that's what you want then more power too you

I agree with Rob, I don't really think that thing is cool. Slap a couple turbos on it, make 1800hp and run some 8's, then it might be kinda cool, but only to watch like once, after that it's just the same old shit.
I just don't think drag racing is fun, never have and never will.
Now, get that mustang to run consistent 10's AND pull 1G+ cornering both directions, and it might be cooler. That's more my style.

It would be EVEN COOLER if you could make it run underwater, the come out of the water, bring out wings, then get your ass to Mars.
Basically what I'm getting at, you can keep making it more complex to make it more interesting, or you can enjoy the simple things in life ;) Autocross got old after a little while, especially standing 1/2 the time and watching other people drive, being the cone bish. But thats just me.
