NOT GOOD!!!!! Winter comes early. ***VID Included***

Hey guys,

As you know I just recently bought the car. Motor had been rebuilt about 8000 miles ago. The only thing upgraded to my knowledge was APR headstuds and rod bolts. Recently there has been some noise coming from the engine that sounds like piston slap. It quiets down after it warms up but is still there. Figured i would let you hear it and maybe get some suggestions. In the video you will hear it when the motor comes down from the rev and its back to idle. Any help is appreciated.

I know nothing about piston slap in other cars, but I know Neon's do it from the factory and it isn't really a problem. Just something they do.

Sounds like lifter tick to me, what weight oil are you using right now?

10w-30

a quart of lucas < always
and a valve adjustment

I would do a valve adjustment to factory specs...or have one done if you dont know how. Pm me if you want a quote on having it done.

USE 5W30

^ Agreed; as I said before it sounds like lifter/valve tick to me, not uncommon and better yet, not terribly destructive. A lighter oil well certainly help in the mean time and help to counteract the colder weather's affect and a valve job should do the trick for good.
