View Full Version : Brake pad replacement problems

I'm replacing the back breaks on a 95 240sx. got everything off
the pads wouldn't fit in the caliper. so i tried using a c clamp to compress the cylinder. it wouldn't compress at all. tried opening the brake line to let some pressure out, nothing. anyone have any ideas on whats wrong?

sounds like a seized caliper i guess. did it work when it was on the car?

You need a special tool to compress the caliper. It's a special key that fits onto a socket wrench that spins the piston back into the caliper. Don't use the c clamp anymore, might damage it. Go to a good parts store and they'll have one usually for like five bucks.
