This time at the Idaho Center. We're doing a driver's school on saturday, and a normal autocross event on sunday.
If you haven't autocrossed before and are interested in giving it a try, this is the weekend to hit. The school on saturday will get you oriented to the way we do things, as well as work on your driving skills. Sunday you'll get to see a typical event day with the SRRSCCA.
Prices are currently:
Free! To all NEW drivers (this means you havent come out and played with us previously, must purchase an SCCA weekend membership of $15)
Free to all college/high school students (must show student ID and purchase a SCCA weekend membership if not currently a member, $15)
$20 for the day (for current SCCA members)
Come on out and have fun with us! As always, any questions give me a pm or find me at the event. I'll be there saturday helping out and sunday dodging cones.
ROLL CALL G208, who's gonna be there?

Same time as normal.
And I believe only the driver's school is free if you've never autocrossed before, the autocross on Sunday is still the normal price.

Jserman - it'd be $35 for just Sunday, OR $35 for both days for you (or $15 for just the driver's school). The special pricing only applies to the driver's school.

there we go, shows what I know about the fees.
if you come to the school saturday, sign up for free+$15 weekend membership, then you'll be a weekend member for sunday's race, which will cost $20. so like scott said, you can run saturday and sunday for $35 alltogether, or just sunday for $20+$15.

i am going to be there sunday.
im very worried though...my last alignment revealed both my front, lower ball joints have some good amount of slop in them....didnt think it was that big of an issue, but over the last few days they have been making noise over bumps.
i ordered some new ones, but dont know if they will be here in time.
so yea i will be out there....but there could be some catastrophic damage to the lex if one of those ball joints lets go :ohnoes:

If I were a first time driver, I'd do both days... no reason not to, ESPECIALLY because Saturday is aimed at first time / newer drivers. Plus, what you learn about your car (and you will learn a lot) will transfer directly to the streets in accident avoidance.

i did the drivers school a few years ago, and i can say it really did help me become a better autox'er ( i had even done a few events prior to the school, and it still helped)

I'm fully intending to be a student, even though this is my third season of Auto-x. If you watch me go round the cones just once though, you'll understand why I need to be a student...

You'd be stupid not to attend both days if you are a noob. Since you are basically getting one day free.
Edit: Don't take that the wrong way either. Just couldn't think of another way to say you are getting a smoking deal as a noob.

I am even considering coming out as a student on Saturday, being free and all, and I am sure I will learn, even having done this for a good 4-5 years straight.

Will it be the same track for both days?
ScottyStyles
05-26-2009, 04:45 PM
Nope, different each day. Saturday will be different types of obstacles - slaloms, decreasing/increasing radius corners, etc - set up at different stations, and then after lunch they'll have a small mini-course set up that combines everything. Sunday will be a proper course.

My car won't be ready for this event. Anyone let me co-drive and I'll pay for the price of admission?

I'll be out filming on the 31st, hopefully there will be a good spot on the grass so I won't need a chatty chipmunk spotter.
