I think its pretty ridiculous. Sometimes you don't know what something is worth and you wanna know what people would offer. I honestly have tried to sell a couple things having no idea what its worth and got my threads locked. I think that rule should be changed. It in no way adversely affects the site if a price is not posted. If anyone has any input would be great thanks.

It isn't that hard to utilize the internet and find out a good general price on things. Just by searching google and ebay you can get a good idea and then if it's high i'm sure people will let you know. Locking the thread is a bit overkill I think though

Maybe give a warning that the thread will be locked if no price is added, then if it's not edited within... 24 hours or so to include an original asking process lock it at that point?

I think asking for offers is just fine. I mean, yeah, it's always nice to have an asking price, just to know what to set the offers around, but locking a thread just because of it is a bit ridiculous.

Ya i can always use Google and get an "idea" of what to ask but in this economy right now i don't wanna go overkill on prices but don't wanna kick myself in the ass either. Getting offers helps not only the seller but the buyer as well.

I think testing waters and no price ads are DUMB and a waste of time... you know how much you want for your stuff....if you don't then figure it out then post.....
forum rules are made for a reason and simple to follow.... so just do it......

The site is new and it is also open to suggestions that is what this is. Alot of people have made comments about it so i thought i would bring it up. And not everyone always knows what they want out of something or even what it is worth.

X2 on the testing water thing and no price. It is or is not for sale. Having a price is extremely helpful to potential buyers on the forum.

price and pics are a MUST imo. how the fuck do i know if your price is right, if you have no pics of the thing your posting? and how do i know what to offer if there is no pics? and i agree on the testing waters....if your putting it up for sale, then you want to sell it for a price you have in mind..........this is all purposefull shiz. no pics, and no price is a giant waste of the buyer and the sellers time.

no shit, i fucking hate it when people say "pm" for pricing. i want to know the price of the item. you know, alot of the times if something doesnt have a price i wont even look at it. if someone is SELLING something and doesnt include the PRICE, they obviously dont want a sale that bad. if your selling something, have a price or dont put it up for sale.
omg its drunk scott.

imo if someone is "selling" something and say pm for price or make offers, or anything about pm's....i get the feeling they are shady as fuck and are trying to fuck someone. if they are that shady about the price...how shady is the thing they are selling? i HATE shady people.

I agree that sometimes a price will help a fs thread...pics always help...but I think that its kinda hypocritical of g208 to start locking threads for certain reasons when one of the main reason for this site was to not have threads locked and people wouldn't get banned...if that is how you feel then don't view the fs thread and don't buy the item, but there should be nothing wrong with seeing how much people want to buy an item for and have people make offers....if you needed a price on things for fs adds to be successful then ebay would be bankrupt....but of course they aren't and people shouldn't have their threads locked over the way you THINK it should be done. let it go and don't lock threads...period.
IMO...

i always hate for sale sections on forums. they are un managed and full of crap. anything can go. if im looking to buy something, ill find a thread with an item sold/item with no pix or info and its confusing and a waste of my time.
us having rules over a SECTION of the site helps everyone who looks to buy or sell items. it being cleaner for everyone makes it a lot less confusing to look at
im currently apart of another forum that wont even lest you make a for sale thread if you dont have your location correct in your profile

on zilvia, when selling wheels, if you dont put the bolt pattern, sizes, and price in the title it gets locked immediately
As a mod....I have been giving warnings (and time) before I lock the threads, some people have added prices, some have not (and those ads didn't get unlocked). Prices are needed.
Ebay does have a price on items for sale, even though the whole site is basically best offer, it starts somewhere, and people make offers (bids)
As a member of any of the forums I am on.... I hate when there is no price on a FS ad, if I am looking to buy something, I want to know how much it is. If there is no price, I think it isn't for sale, and I skip right over it. I then go find the item else where and but it from someone who wants to sell it.

^^ and i unlocked it. maybe i was too harsh in locking it.
Like I said, I have been giving a warning that it will get locked, but I will eventually stop doing that (for a new member, or someone who hasn't been warned multiple times, I would still warn before locking).

I was the one who instated all the rules for the for sale section. So i figure it best that i jump in here. Like everyone else said, threads that are "feelers" with no price turn into clusterfucks usually and tend to upset buying members. State a price and work from there. Tyler gives warning for the locks which is perfectly fine. Eventually everyone will get on the same page for the rule.

thats what I am hoping happens, then I won't have to lock 'em anymore
